The organizer “Gratulationes” is arranging a 3rd International Choral Festival & Competition “Laudate Dominum” in Vilnius, on the 5 – 10th of July, 2012. The festival is open for all choirs, both Lithuanian and foreign.

Short summary of the program:

  • the choirs arrive in Vilnius on the 5th or 6th of July;
  • 5 – 10th of July – choirs will perform in various churches and have excursions in Vilnius and Trakai – the most beautiful places in Lithuania;
  • 7th and 9th of July – competition days in Academy of Music and Theatre of Lithuania;
  • 10th of July – final concert;
  • choirs depart on 9th or 10th of July.

The applicants may choose (one or both options) to:

1. Prepare and deliver an individual concert (up to 30 minutes).

Choirs, which will perform individually, must take into consideration the following requirements:

  • all songs have to be carried out a cappella;
  • in the program there should be pieces from 2 – 4 periods of sacred music;
  • songs are selected by the conductor of the choir.

2. Compete in the choir competition on 7th or 9th of July, 2012 (see About Competition).

Each choir can perform individually and/or participate in the competition.

  • Academy of Music and Theatre of Lithuania, Gedimino ave. 42, Vilnius;
  • St. Peter’s and Paul’s Church, Antakalnio str. 1/1, Vilnius;
  • St. Casimir’s Church, Didzioji str. 34, Vilnius;
  • Kryziaus Atradimo (Kalvariju) Church, Kalvariju str. 237, Vilnius;
  • St. Johns’ Church, Sv. Jono str. 12, Vilnius;
  • Trakai Church, Birutes str. 5, Trakai.

Accommodation:

The participants will be accommodated at the hotels or motels, in double standard rooms or apartments. All accommodation buildings (hotels and motels) are located in the center, or near the center (2-4 km.).

Cost includes accommodation, meals two time per day and participant fee for one person.

Excursions:

We are offering two excursions:

  • in Vilnius with a guide for 2-3 hours – 70 € for a group. With guide you can see Old town of Vilnius, churches etc. Whole excursion is on foot;
  • trip to the old capital of Lithuania – Trakai(40 km from Vilnius). 60 € for a guide, ticket cost 5 € per adult, 3 € for students with ISIC. With guide you can see city of Trakai and go to the Castle of Trakai.

The 1st of April, 2012 is the last day to apply.

Important deadlines:

  • 1st of April, 2012 – last day to apply (sending choir’s information via e-mail: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it );
  • 2nd of April, 2012 – choirs will get a confirmation by e-mail including bank details information;
  • choirs are required to transfer 30% of the cost until 16th of April. Cost includes accommodation and meals, participant fee, sightseeing with a guide;
  • choirs are required to transfer other 70% of the cost until 16th of May.

For example, if there are 30 individuals in your choir and you chose to stay in a 3* hotel for 5 days (4 nights) and also ordered an excursion to Trakai, you will have to pay 3300 € for the accommodation and meal (includes participant fee), 60 € for the guide. Total cost would be 3360 €. 30% of that cost would be 1008 €, 70% - 2352 €. Tickets to Trakai castle are not included, you would have to pay for them at the castle museum.

The Festival does not cover any of the travel costs.

The travelling costs must to be covered by the participants.

About Competition

7th and 9th of July – competition days in Academy of Music and Theatre of Lithuania. Choirs participating in the competition perform three sacred songs. The total length of three songs should not exceed 12 minutes. All songs have to be carried out a cappella. Рarticipants should provide the organizer with a list of three songs (name of the song and its author). The organizer will provide choir with a list of two Lithuanian sacred music songs for choir to choose one which they will carry out as obligatory song. Obligatory songs will be announced in December, 2011.

When we will send obligatory songs to you, please choose one of them. But if you consider it too complicated, you can participate in competition in the category "Without obligatory song". In that case you will not be able to win award for the best obligatory song's performance.

Prizes for the winners:

  • the best choir will receive an amount of 500 € and a certificate;
  • the winners of second and third places will receive certificates and special prizes;
  • for the best performance of the obligatory song choir will receive special prize and a certificate.
